National Defence Academy Celebrates 75 Years with Pan-India Expeditions

Khadakwasla: The National Defence Academy (NDA) is marking its diamond jubilee with a grand celebration that goes beyond the confines of its campus. In an unprecedented move, the academy has organized expeditions to the four extremities of India, creating a remarkable blend of adventure, history, and patriotic fervor.

The Southernmost expedition set sail on December 1, 2023, heading towards Indira Point, situated in the picturesque Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Led by 10 NDA cadets and guided by 03 instructors, the team is on a mission to explore historically significant locations, including the infamous Cellular Jail, Aberdeen Bazaar, PVC Memorial, and the Tsunami Memorial. The journey is set to conclude on December 9, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the cadets’ understanding of India’s cultural and historical diversity.

Simultaneously, another team of 10 NDA cadets and 03 instructors embarked on a challenging hike to Kibithu, the Easternmost corner of India, on the same day. The team’s itinerary includes visits to the Walong War Memorial, Wacha Border Meeting Point, Dichu View Point, and a heartwarming engagement with the local community in Kibithu village on December 4, 2023. The Easternmost expedition will culminate on December 10, 2023, leaving the cadets with a profound connection to the remote regions of the country.

Both teams, as part of their mission, took the opportunity to stop at schools along their routes, interacting with students and igniting the spark of patriotism. By sharing their experiences, the NDA cadets aim to inspire young minds to consider careers in the Armed Forces, fostering a sense of duty towards the nation.

These expeditions build on the success of similar journeys undertaken in June 2023 to the Northernmost and Westernmost corners of India. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, the Commandant of NDA, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the participating teams for their dedication and commitment.

These pan-India expeditions not only celebrate the NDA’s 75 years of excellence but also serve as a powerful platform to raise awareness about the academy. They emphasize the indispensable role of the Armed Forces in nation-building and securing our borders, reinforcing the significance of unity and patriotism.

The jubilant festivities and activities commemorating the 75 glorious years of the NDA are scheduled to conclude on January 16, 2024, leaving a lasting legacy of adventure, camaraderie, and national pride.
