MSEDCL Launches ‘Welcome Cell’ to Revolutionize Services for Industrial Electricity Consumers

Pune: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has initiated the ‘Welcome Cell’ across all districts in the state, introducing a comprehensive doorstep service for industrial consumers. This New Year initiative aims to expedite complaint resolution related to billing, power supply, and facilitate new power connections and additional services for industrial customers.

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, emphasized the importance of prompt and high-quality services for industrial customers, who contribute 46 percent of MSEDCL’s total revenue. With approximately 1200 new industrial power connections established annually and a growth rate of 3 percent each year, the ‘Welcome Cell’ initiative is tailored to meet the specific needs of this vital customer segment.

Mahavitaran Chairman and Managing Director, Lokesh Chandra, proposed the establishment of ‘Welcome Cells’ at the local level to address industrial customers’ unique requirements. Operating at the district or circle level, each ‘Welcome Cell’ will be headed by an Executive Engineer and include additional staff members. These cells will be operational in every district within the next three days.

The ‘Welcome Cells’ will have dedicated contact numbers and email IDs for district-wise communication, enabling industrial customers to raise complaints, queries, or demands for new electricity connections and report overcharges. The initiative aims to provide quick and efficient solutions by offering accessible channels for communication.

The process for new electricity connections or increased electricity load demands will involve prompt communication from MSEDCL to the relevant industrial customers. Information about required documents and charges will be provided, and the processing of documents, online applications, and payment of processing fees will be conducted at the customer’s doorstep within two working days.

Complaints related to electricity service or billing received through the ‘Welcome Cell’ will adhere to prescribed time frames for resolution, ensuring efficient service standards.

The ‘Welcome Cell’ initiative is aligned with the Maharashtra Government’s ‘Maitri Portal,’ offering online applications for new electricity connections to MSEDCL. Additionally, MSEDCL’s independent portal provides various services, including document uploads, application status tracking, toll-free contact numbers, ‘Urja’ chat-bot, and query forms for industrial customers.
