MNS Pune Shake-Up: Vasant More’s Resignation Signals Political Turmoil

In a surprising turn of events, Vasant More, a prominent leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Pune, has tendered his resignation from the party, citing internal conflicts and doubts raised on his loyalty. The resignation, submitted on March 12, has sparked speculation about More’s potential move to join the NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction.

According to the details outlined in Vasant More’s resignation letter, accessed by Pune Pulse, he expressed his commitment to the party for the past 18 years, serving in various capacities, including as a general secretary in Pune city and Maharashtra. However, More highlighted recent instances of what he termed as “dirty politics” within the party, alleging that senior officials in Pune questioned his loyalty.

In the letter, More stated, “The ‘technique’ of those colleagues is being adopted by the senior officials of the city to ‘conflict’ them,” referring to his efforts to support local office bearers and empower them for future elections. Expressing his disappointment with the internal dynamics, More chose to resign from all posts, including his primary membership of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

Known for his upfront and vocal approach on various issues in Pune city, Vasant More has been an influential figure, recently raising concerns about the Katraj bridge work. His resignation has left a void in the MNS leadership in Pune, and the party is yet to respond officially to this development.

While the news of Vasant More’s resignation has created ripples within political circles, speculations are rife that he might align himself with the Sharadchandra Pawar faction within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). However, this information is yet to be confirmed by the concerned parties.

The political landscape in Pune is expected to undergo shifts and realignments with More’s departure from the MNS, and his potential move to the NCP could bring about significant changes in the dynamics of local politics.
