MLA Siddharth Shirole Urges Pune Police Action on Nighttime Constructions and Traffic Woes at SPPU Chowk

In a bid to address the escalating concerns of Pune residents, Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole has approached Commissioner of Pune Police, Amitesh Kumar, seeking urgent action against nighttime constructions causing disturbances and an increase in traffic officers at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk to alleviate traffic congestion.

The letters submitted by Shirole underscore two critical issues affecting the city’s residents.

Nighttime Constructions:

Expressing the challenges faced by citizens, Shirole pointed out that Pune is experiencing rapid growth, leading to an accelerated pace of construction work. Of particular concern is the construction activity occurring during nighttime hours. Residents have raised complaints about the noise and pollution generated by activities such as digging, loading and unloading of goods, and the operation of cement concrete mixers. The impact is felt acutely by senior citizens and children, and despite repeated complaints, minimal action has been taken. Shirole has urged Commissioner Kumar to investigate the matter and take appropriate measures to address the issues.

SPPU Chowk Traffic Movement Monitoring:

The ongoing flyover construction at Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk, managed by PMRDA, has led to severe traffic jams during peak hours on various roads, including Vidyapeeth Road, Old Mumbai Pune Road, Baner Road, Pashan Road, Aundh Road, and Senapati Bapat Road. Siddharth Shirole has requested the deployment of additional police constables to regulate traffic during peak hours efficiently. The objective is to minimize inconvenience to commuters and residents grappling with long queues of vehicles.

Shirole’s proactive approach in highlighting these issues reflects his commitment to the welfare of Pune’s residents and his pursuit of swift, effective solutions.
