Massive Police Deployment Ensured for Pune, Shirur, and Baramati Election Duties

Over 10,500 Officers Set to Secure Lok Sabha Polls Across City and Constituencies

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Pune, Shirur, and Baramati constituencies, the district election office has orchestrated a formidable security arrangement, with over 10,500 police personnel slated for deployment across various polling stations and EVM strong rooms.

The district election office has allocated a substantial number of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and VVPAT machines for the elections, ensuring a smooth and transparent voting process. Additionally, heightened security measures, including armed deployment at ten sensitive polling stations in the city, have been put in place to safeguard the electoral process.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar affirmed that a significant contingent of officers, amounting to 930, alongside 10,500 police personnel, will be on duty throughout the parliamentary elections. Their responsibilities encompass overseeing security at EVM strong rooms, polling stations, and other critical areas.

The electoral process will unfold in two phases, with the Baramati seat scheduled for polls on May 7 during the first phase. This includes areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Pune city police commissionerate, such as Khadakwasla and Purandar assembly seats. A robust security detail comprising 370 officials, 3,500 police personnel, including home guards and paramilitary forces, will be deployed to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Subsequently, the second phase will witness polling in Pune city and Shirur on May 13. Notably, portions of the Hadapsar assembly segment fall under the jurisdiction of the Shirur assembly segment. For this phase, a contingent of 7,000 police personnel, directed by 530 officers and supported by 1,900 home guards, will be deployed. Additionally, the deployment will be reinforced by three platoons of central reserve police force and two platoons of SRPF to bolster security measures.
