Maha Vikas Aghadi partners, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP), demand six seats each in the assembly polls in Pune

Pune: The constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are upbeat after their good performance in the Lok Sabha elections in the State. All political parties are preparing for the State Assembly polls. However, there is a cold war between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP (SP) in the city.

Both the parties want six seats each. An NCP (SP) meeting took place recently in the city. Speaking to the media after the meeting, NCP (SP) City Unit President Prashant Jagtap claimed that they wanted to contest from the Shivajinagar, Parvati, Hadapsar, Vadgaon Sheri, Khadakwasla and Pune Cantonment assembly segments. He expressed the confidence that his party’s candidates would get a big victory margin in these seats.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) immediately claimed six seats in the city. Its City Unit President Sanjay More said that they would like to field candidates from Parvati, Vadgaon Sheri, Kothrud, Pune Cantonment, Hadapsar and Kasba Peth assembly seats. Earlier, four Shiv Sena MLAs were elected from the city. The party has readied its organisational set-up for the elections in the city. Therefore, the party should get six assembly seats, stated Sanjay More in his report sent to the party leadership.

This indicates a bitter tussle within the MVA even before the Assembly polls are announced.
