Lost in Bureaucracy: Sarasbaug Walking Plaza Proposal Goes Missing in PMC

Pune, In a startling development within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), a crucial file containing detailed plans for establishing a walking plaza for street food vendors near Sarasbaug has mysteriously vanished. The proposed initiative aims to relocate existing street food vendors in the Sarasbaug vicinity to a nearby location, and a comprehensive proposal outlining this endeavor was meticulously prepared by the Anti-Encroachment Department of the municipal corporation.

Officials report that the proposal had received approval from the municipal corporation and was subsequently forwarded to the building department for further processing. However, to everyone’s astonishment, the file has inexplicably disappeared within the confines of the PMC’s building department. In response to this alarming development, officials from the PMC’s Anti-Encroachment Department have announced their intention to register a case in this matter and prepare a new proposal. Nevertheless, the incident has sparked concern, given that numerous vital files are stored within the PMC building.

It is worth noting that the PMC had put forward a plan to relocate the street food shops in the vicinity of Sarasbaug to an alternative location. The proposal entails moving approximately 56 shops near Sanas Ground, thereby opening up the road for visitors. This decision was prompted by the realization that these shops had obscured the view of Sarasbaug and its temple from the road, rendering them less visible to passersby. PMC had previously ordered the closure of these shops, but following discussions, a mutually agreeable solution was reached, culminating in the decision to establish a walking plaza in the area currently occupied by the street food vendors.
