Lonavala Police Take Precautionary Measures for Monsoon Season

With the monsoon season in full swing, Lonavala, a popular hill station near Pune, is witnessing a surge in tourist footfall. In anticipation of the increased crowd and potential safety concerns, the local police have implemented several measures to ensure the smooth management of tourists and maintain law and order.

One of the major attractions in Lonavala during the monsoon is the Bhushi dam, which has already started overflowing due to heavy rainfall. To prevent any untoward incidents and traffic congestion, additional police personnel have been deployed at various locations in Lonavala. Their primary focus is to manage the influx of visitors, facilitate vehicular movement, and ensure the safety of tourists.

Speaking about the precautions, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mitesh Ghatte emphasized the need for visitors to enjoy themselves responsibly without disturbing others. He stated, “We have planned necessary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.” To enhance safety and provide immediate assistance, signboards displaying emergency contact numbers of local police, doctors, ambulance services, mechanics, and tire puncture services have been installed at prominent spots.

The police have also taken steps to protect tourists from fraud by providing authentic helpline numbers. Warning signs have been erected to caution visitors about dangerous accident-prone areas. Entry points to mountain trails will be marked with informative boards, and consistent traffic monitoring will be conducted to prevent congestion in Lonavala and other tourist hotspots.

Collaborating with Bhushi dam officials, the rural police are closely monitoring activities and ensuring the safety of adventurous individuals near the dam. Rescue teams with trained lifeguards have been stationed to prevent any drownings. Additionally, the police are vigilant regarding selfie-related accidents and will strictly enforce regulations to avoid such incidents.
