In a harrowing incident that unfolded in Kothrud on a Sunday morning, a dedicated 57-year-old fireman from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Fire Brigade Department sustained injuries as a colossal branch from a Gulmohar tree fell on him while responding to an emergency operation. The injured fireman, identified as Rajesh Shridhar Kulkarni, endured the mishap at 5:15 am, requiring immediate medical attention due to eye injuries.
The fire brigade received a distress call regarding a tree uprooting in the area, prompting a rapid response from the Kothrud fire station team. Upon their arrival at the scene, the fire brigade personnel commenced the challenging task of removing the fallen tree to clear the blocked roads. Tragically, during the execution of this crucial operation, a sizable tree branch struck Kulkarni’s face, resulting in significant eye injuries. Displaying remarkable teamwork, his fellow firefighters administered immediate first aid and swiftly summoned an ambulance to convey him to a medical facility for prompt treatment.
Kulkarni’s well-being remains a priority, and he was expeditiously transported to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, where he currently receives necessary medical attention.
