Kalyani Nagar Residents Accuse Pub Owners of Breaking Soundproofing Agreement as PMC Removes Barriers

In a surprising development following a recent agreement between Kalyani Nagar residents and club owners to address concerns related to noise pollution, Kalyani Nagar residents have voiced complaints that certain pub owners have violated the terms of the agreement by dismantling the soundproofing measures installed in their establishments.

Monica S, a Kalyani Nagar resident, expressed her concerns, stating, “The abrupt removal of Elrow’s soundproofing indicates a lack of consistent noise control measures. Our neighborhood has finally found some tranquility after a long time. The persistent complaints about rooftop restaurants have persisted for years. PMC should prioritize the welfare of the community over vested interests, ensuring a fair and transparent approach. The PMC and the excise department should contemplate revoking licenses for repeated violations. Our community deserves better, and it is time to hold individuals accountable for the sake of our quality of life.”

Another resident from Kalyani Nagar, who wished to remain anonymous, lamented, “The removal of Elrow’s soundproofing is a setback for us. We were starting to experience relief from constant noise, and now it feels like our efforts have been wasted.”

“The inconsistent stance of the PMC on rooftop licenses and noise pollution is perplexing. Instead of addressing the root issue, it seems like their focus is on efforts that were actually making a positive impact on the situation,” voiced another resident.

According to available information, the incident involving the owners of Waters Pub and Elrow Pub has sparked accusations of an unjust exercise of authority and influence. Allegations have arisen that Waters Pub provided a tip that led to PMC’s decision to dismantle the soundproofing measures that Elrow Pub had implemented. These soundproofing efforts had provided much-needed relief to the residents, shielding them from the constant onslaught of loud music.

Kalyani Nagar residents have expressed their disappointment with PMC’s handling of the matter, alleging that the decision seems to be influenced by powerful connections rather than a genuine concern for the community’s well-being. The dispute between the two pub owners has highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by residents in their pursuit of a peaceful living environment.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the transparency and fairness of PMC’s actions. As the controversy unfolds, community members are calling for a thorough review of the decision-making process and the potential influence of vested interests.

However, Sanjay Gurung, the Owner of Elrow Pub, Kalyani Nagar, has refuted the allegations, stating, “Last month, we agreed upon an arrangement between Kalyani Nagar residents and pub owners. We are abiding by that agreement and have implemented soundproofing measures on the pub’s walls. We have not violated the agreement and will continue to uphold it.”

Efforts were made to contact relevant PMC officials, but connections could not be established.
