Investment Nightmare Unfolds: Former BJP Corporator and Son Allegedly Dupe Pune Locals in Gas Agency Scheme

The Pune City Police have taken action against a former corporator and prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, along with his son, for purportedly deceiving nine city residents to the tune of Rs 5.5 Crore under the pretense of lucrative returns from investments in a gas agency. A case pertaining to this alleged financial scam has been formally registered at the Vishrambaug Police Station.

As detailed in the complaint filed with the police, the accused former corporator, Uday Joshi (65), and his son, Mayuresh Joshi (45), are accused of enticing the complainant and other victims into investing substantial sums in a gas agency by promising substantial profits. The complainant, who invested a total of Rs 14.10 lakhs in the venture, was among those assured of promising returns. Similarly, eight additional individuals were induced to invest their money with expectations of significant gains.

Shockingly, none of the promised returns materialized, and the investors were allegedly defrauded by the accused. Subsequently, the victims approached the police to report the fraudulent scheme. In response, the Vishrambaug police have initiated legal action against the accused under sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Authorities have commenced a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the extent of the alleged fraud and bring those responsible to justice.
