Athletes Recognized for Excellence by Guruvarya Gajanan Patil Sports Foundation
Pune – In a ceremony held at the SM Joshi Foundation Auditorium to commemorate the 62nd birth anniversary of Guruvarya Gajanan Maruti Patil, athletes were lauded for their outstanding contributions to sports. Guruvarya Gajanan Maruti Patil himself was honored posthumously with the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati Award. The event also celebrated sports coaches and players who have demonstrated remarkable dedication and achieved excellence in sports despite facing challenging circumstances. Dr. Gauri Patil, the wife of the late Gajanan Patil, established the Guruvarya Gajanan Patil Sports Foundation in memory of her husband, which endeavors to promote sports-related activities. This year marks the third edition of the awards.
Rahul Singh, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Goods and Services Tax Department and former Olympic hockey player (1996), graced the occasion as the chief guest. Notable players such as Shrikant Jadhav, Krishna Kumar Rane, Dutta Jhodge, Ajinkya Jadhav, and Richa Jadhav Patil were present at the event.
The awards ceremony recognized achievements in various sports disciplines. Athletics sports guide Ramdas Farkate, along with athletes Rohan Kamble and Sanika Roopnar, were among the recipients of this year’s sports awards. Additionally, Azam Syed, Pranjal Bachche, Aishwarya Hinge, and Somati Kodak were honored for their outstanding performances in athletics.
The program commenced with a welcome song by Parth Deshmukh and concluded with Pasaydan. Richa Jadhav Patil expressed her gratitude for the recognition. Dr. Deepali Godse conducted the program seamlessly, ensuring its success.
