Innovative Approach by Pune Traffic Police: Converting Challans into Compromises

Pune, August 24, 2023: The District Legal Services Authority in Pune has taken a unique and proactive approach to address traffic rule violations in the city. To streamline the process of resolving challan cases, a special Lok Adalat is scheduled for September 9th at the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s Traffic Branch Office near Yerwada Post Office.

In preparation for this event, a meeting was held on August 24th at the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Pune District Legal Services Authority and the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) of the Motor Vehicle Court, Shivajinagar, Pune. During the discussions, it was decided that an Information Helpdesk on Concession of Penalty After Compromise of Pending Traffic Bills would be set up at the Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada starting from August 28th.

The primary objective of this initiative is to serve the public’s interest by expediting the resolution of pending traffic violation cases. Under this scheme, individuals with unresolved traffic violation cases will have the opportunity to avail a concession on penalties by reaching a mutual compromise. Motorists and vehicle owners with outstanding penalties can visit the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch Office, Yerwada, Pune, between 11 AM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM starting from August 28th. This will enable them to settle their pending cases and benefit from reduced penalties through mutual agreement, as highlighted by DCP (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar.

This innovative approach not only provides a way to clear pending cases efficiently but also encourages mutual understanding and cooperation between the authorities and the public. It showcases Pune Traffic Police’s commitment to finding creative solutions to improve the overall traffic management system and create a more responsible and compliant driving culture in the city.
