PUNE: Scientists have presented a proof of gravitational waves of low frequency before the world. What is noteworthy is that Indian astronomers have played an important role in this discovery.
On the international-level, the scientists made an announcement on Thursday (June 29) at 5.30 am. In Pune, the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) made this announcement at a press conference. What is special is that 16 research papers were published on the same day.
Scientists from India, Europe and Japan are involved in the project. The research has been made through the study of pulsar stars which is considered the best watch in the world. The Giant Metrewave Radios Telescope (GMRT) located near Narayangaon has played an important role.
In 2015, Ligo and Virgo laboratories had proved the existence of gravitational waves. Now, Scientists in the European and Indian Pulsar Timing Array group have discovered low frequency gravitational waves. The existence of low frequency gravitational waves has been proved by gathering the collective Vida analysis of the last 25 years.
Professor Bhalchandra Joshi, a scientist at NCRA, said, “Einstein had said that gravitational waves were having an effect on notings of Pulsar stars. The notings made by GMRT have proved useful for separating other observations from observations in minute changes. The existence of gravitational waves has been proved after research of many decades.”
Professor Yashwant Gupta, Director of NCRA, said, “Scientists are trying to find gravitational waves in different waves. Research has been carried out about the Pulsar Timing Array. GMRT has played an important role in making notings of low frequency radio waves.”
