Huge crowds at Sinhagad fort on Sunday

Sinhagad Fort

Pune: An unprecedented rush was witnessed at the Sinhagad fort, which is a popular tourist destination, not far away from the city. There were traffic jams on the roads leading towards the fort.

Video clips of the crowds went viral on social media. The situation also reminded people of the myth associated with the fort that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s General Tanaji Malusare had conquered the fort with the help of a monitor lizard. A tough cliff of the fort was scaled by first sending the animal up tied with a rope, which was then used to climb the fort.

Citizens from urban and rural areas of the district step out of their homes for picnics on Sundays. Many of them want to enjoy the pleasant weather, including rain, fog and waterfalls, during the monsoon at these places. Hence, they prefer the hilly areas.

One of the video clips shows visitors waiting in long, crowded queues at Pune Darwaza, one of the main entrances to the fort. They were stranded at the place for a long time and had a tough time. People need to take care while going on such outings.
