Hadapsar Restaurant Fire: Swift Response by Firefighters Prevents Casualties

In the early hours of Sunday, February 11th, 2024, a restaurant in Hadapsar, Pune, faced a major fire sparked by a cylinder explosion. Despite the intensity of the incident, the quick response from the Hadapsar Fire Station and Kale Borate Nagar Fire Station prevented any casualties.

Timely Response and Evacuation:

Promptly alerted by the Fire Brigade control at 3:12 AM, firefighters rushed to the scene. Within 15 minutes, they successfully brought the fire under control, extinguishing the flames entirely within 30 minutes. The incident occurred at ‘Bhannat Biryani House’, where the ground floor and two additional floors were engulfed in a fierce blaze.

Rescue Operation:

Firefighters initiated a coordinated operation, ensuring the safe evacuation of residents inhabiting the upper levels. Six individuals, comprising three men and three women, were successfully rescued and relocated to safety. Bystanders also played a crucial role in suppressing the fire’s spread until the arrival of the rescue team.

Efficient Coordination and Damage Control:

Fire Officer Anil Gaikwad led the firefighting operation, supported by drivers Raju Sheikh and Narayan Jagtap, along with firefighters Animesh Kondgekar, Babasaheb Chavan, Chandrakant Navale, Ketan Ghadge, and Saket Shinde. The immediate removal of three cylinders, including the confirmed exploded one, contributed to the containment of the situation.

Extent of Damage:

While the fire caused extensive damage to ‘Bhanmat Biryani House’ and two adjacent shops, the firefighters’ swift action ensured that the situation did not escalate further, preventing additional harm.
