Hadapsar Campus Grieves: Fatal Mishap Takes Life of College Employee; Professor Injured

In a tragic incident at PDEA’s Annasaheb Magar Mahavidyalaya in Hadapsar, a female employee lost her life, and another professor sustained injuries during a mishap involving the parking of the college principal’s car. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 in the morning, leading to the demise of Shalan Dattatray Shelar and injuries to Prof. Irfana Shabbir Mulla.

The unfortunate event unfolded around 10:15 am when the college principal, Dr Nitin Ghorpade, arrived at the office in his car. Upon reaching the destination, he handed over the vehicle to college servant Rahul Jadhav for parking. Subsequently, Peon Seema Deshmukh obtained the key from Rahul and attempted to drive the car within the college premises.

During this process, the car lost control, colliding with Prof. Mulla, who was walking ahead, at a significant speed. The impact propelled the vehicle into the college washroom’s staircase wall. Shalan Shelar, an employee present at the basin, suffered critical injuries as the car struck her from behind, crushing both her legs.

Immediate action was taken, and both victims were swiftly admitted to a private hospital. Unfortunately, Shalan Shelar succumbed to her injuries before receiving treatment. The Hadapsar Police are actively involved in registering a case related to the incident.

Shalan Shelar, a dynamic participant in various college programs, was well-known for her enthusiasm during cultural events. Her untimely demise has left a profound impact on the faculty and staff, who held her in high regard. Shalan Shelar is survived by her husband and two children.
