The eagerly awaited safety approval for the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi Metro route in Pune is anticipated within the next week, according to officials from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro). Following the safety inspections carried out by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) team on the Ramwadi stretch, minor adjustments have been recommended, and a compliance report is set to be submitted within the coming days.
Once the final certification is secured, Maha Metro will revise the current train timetable and commence scheduling trips up to Ramwadi, marking the introduction of operations between Vanaz and Ramwadi – the end stations of the corridor. This expansion is a significant step towards making the entire route accessible to commuters.
The technical teams at Maha Metro are actively working on addressing the adjustments and enhancements suggested by the CMRS team during the inspection. The thorough inspection on Monday focused on ensuring the safety and compliance of the Ramwadi stretch, a crucial segment of the metro route.
The imminent completion of safety inspections aligns with Maha Metro’s goal to make the route operational before the general elections, expected in April 2024. Once the CMRS provides the final approval, Maha Metro will promptly notify the state government, which will then decide on the commencement and modalities for commuters to use the extended stretch.
A senior Maha Metro official affirmed, “Maha Metro will keep every stretch prepared for daily operations, ensuring a seamless experience for commuters once the necessary approvals are in place.”
