Farewell to the Old: Pune RTO Rolls Out Revised Taxi Fares for 2024

As the calendar turned to 2024, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) ushered in a new era for taxi services in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Baramati areas by officially implementing revised fare rates for black and yellow taxis and air-conditioned taxis (Coolcabs). This strategic move, effective from January 1, 2024, is aligned with the recommendations of the Khatua Committee and follows a government decision made during a crucial meeting on December 22, 2023.

Fare Revision Highlights

For black and yellow taxis, the revised fare structure sets the initial 1.5 km at Rs 31, with an additional Rs 21 for every subsequent kilometer. Meanwhile, air-conditioned taxis (Coolcabs) will now charge Rs 37 for the first 1.5 km, followed by Rs 25 for each additional kilometer.

Transparent and Standardized Pricing

Sanjeev Bhor, the Pune RTO in charge, confirmed the implementation of the revised fares, underscoring that the fare for air-conditioned taxis (Coolcabs) has been fixed at Rs 25. This move is geared towards achieving a fair and standardized pricing structure for taxi services in the Pune Regional Transport Area.

Commuter and Operator Benefits

The fare revision is designed to bring clarity and transparency to taxi fares, ensuring that both commuters and taxi operators benefit from a well-defined pricing structure. This step is expected to enhance the overall experience for passengers while offering a sustainable framework for taxi operators.
