Ghorpadi Gets Green Light: Army Clears Path for Pune-Miraj Railway Bridge Construction

Ghorpadi: In a significant development, the Army has given the green signal for land acquisition, paving the way for the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on the Pune-Miraj Railway line in Ghorpadi. This collaborative effort between the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Army underscores a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

Project Overview:

  1. Clearance and Collaboration: Recent discussions between Army officials and PMC authorities culminated in a security review, resulting in the Army granting clearance for the crucial land acquisition necessary for the ROB’s construction.
  2. Transfer of Cantonment Area: In a pivotal move in 2016, the Defence Department approved the transfer of 4,560 square meters of cantonment area, a key step facilitating the construction of the railway bridge.
  3. Progress on Pune Solapur Railway Bridge: With the Pune Solapur track railway bridge already 70 percent complete, the ongoing progress in this sector sets an optimistic precedent for the upcoming Pune Miraj Railway bridge project, promising improved connectivity for the region.

  1. Tender Process: The PMC has initiated the tender process for the Pune Miraj Railway bridge construction, with an estimated project cost set at Rs 48 crore.
  2. Contractor Selection: By February, the selection of the contractor is anticipated, marking a crucial step before the issuance of work orders for the commencement of construction.
