Fuel Frustration: Persistent CNG Shortage at Torrent Gas Pumps Sparks Concerns in Pune

The prolonged shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at Torrent Gas pumps in Pune has become a cause for increasing concern among consumers and stakeholders alike. Despite extensive communication and engagements with oil companies, Torrent Gas, and relevant authorities over the past six months, the pumps continue to grapple with extended periods of unavailability.

Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, drew attention to an additional challenge, stating, “The pending outstanding dealer margins of Torrent Gas dealers have been unresolved for two years. Despite numerous attempts to address this issue through communication with SLC, administration, and ministry officials, a resolution remains elusive.”

Despite assurances received during meetings with former Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ravindra Chavan and state-level coordinator for oil marketing companies Santosh Nivendkar in July, the situation persists, causing inconvenience to customers and casting a shadow on the reputation of dealers.

In response to the ongoing challenge, the Petrol Dealers Association Pune has proactively communicated with the district administration, urging immediate action. The association advocates invoking the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act on all concerned stakeholders, highlighting negligence in supply streamlining.

The continuous shortage not only disrupts daily operations but also poses a significant challenge to the reputation of dealers. Stakeholders affected by this issue are urgently seeking intervention for a swift resolution to restore normalcy and uphold the integrity of essential services.
