From Vision to Reality: Yerwada’s ₹14.95 Crore ITI to Shape Pune’s Workforce”

Pune News

Pune: a city renowned for its industrious spirit, is set to receive a substantial boost in its quest for industrial growth and job creation. The Maharashtra state government has allocated ₹14,95,85,000 (approximately 14 Crore, 95 Lakhs, 85 Thousand) for the establishment of an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) on Yerwada Jail Road. This significant investment aims to stimulate local employment and empower the youth with valuable vocational skills.

The decision to launch this ITI follows a recent directive from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. During a review meeting with the Skill Development Department, he emphasized the need to develop an administrative building and workshop in the area. This visionary move aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing skill development and nurturing a workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern industries.

Empowering Pune’s Youth:

MLA Sunil Tingre of Wadgaonsheri has been a vocal advocate for the establishment of an ITI in his constituency. His persistent efforts have borne fruit, with plans now in motion to develop a 5-acre plot in Lohgaon. Tingre shared, “Following the completion of the tender process, construction is scheduled to commence within a month. This endeavor will offer nine vocational courses at the ITI, opening doors to entrepreneurship and employment for the younger generation.”

The proposal for this ITI was initially set in motion in 2021, responding to the escalating demand for industrial training among Pune’s youth. The Maharashtra Government swiftly granted approval for the ITI’s creation in May, signifying its commitment to nurturing local talent. The institute’s curriculum will encompass 18 diverse vocational branches, including electrician, mechanic, and computer programming. To support this comprehensive educational endeavor, 40 teaching and non-teaching staff positions were announced.

A Vision for Economic Growth:

The ITI Training Center in Yerwada holds the promise of transformation for both students and the surrounding regions. As it offers courses such as computer operator and programming assistant, electronics mechanic, tool and diemaker, mechanic motor vehicle, and many more, it will equip a new generation with practical skills that are highly sought after in today’s job market. The institute plans to train 376 students across 9 courses, furthering their career prospects and economic empowerment.

Beyond the immediate benefits for students, this initiative is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the Chakan and Rajangangaon areas. Those who complete their training at this ITI will bring their skills and expertise to the local job market, potentially catalyzing economic growth in these regions.

In summary, the establishment of the ITI in Yerwada is not just an investment in education; it is an investment in the future of Pune and its youth. By providing quality vocational training and fostering skill development, this initiative aims to create a brighter tomorrow for the city and its residents.
