Fog Alert and Rainfall Hit Pune: IMD Issues Weather Advisory for the Week

Pune, 9th January 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, has issued a weather advisory cautioning residents of Pune and its surrounding areas about the potential onset of dense fog during late night and early morning hours in the next 48 hours.

Anupam Kashyapi, the head of the weather forecasting division at IMD Pune, has highlighted the serious visibility threats posed by the impending fog. Commuters are strongly advised to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and prioritize road safety during this period.

In addition to the fog alert, today has witnessed light rainfall in different parts of Pune, with recorded measurements till 3 pm as follows:

  • Lavale: 4.5 mm
  • Chinchwad: 3.5 mm
  • Magarpatta: 3.5 mm
  • Pashan: 2.0 mm
  • Shivajinagar: 1.6 mm
  • Lohegaon: 0.4 mm

Looking ahead, the IMD has provided the following weather predictions for the upcoming days:

10/01/2024: Partly cloudy sky, with drizzle or very light to light rain very likely. Shallow fog is expected in the morning hours.

11/01/2024: Mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy towards the afternoon or evening.

12/01/2024: Mainly clear sky.

13/01/2024: Clear sky.

14/01/2024: Clear sky.

15/01/2024: Mainly clear sky.
