Final Hearings Commence: Bhima Koregaon Commission Summons Ambedkar, Potdar, and Kadam

The Koregaon Bhima Commission of Inquiry, actively investigating the Bhima Koregaon violence, has issued summons to Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar, Elgar Parishad organizer Harshali Potdar, and Pune resident deputy collector Jyoti Kadam. These individuals are set to undergo cross-examination as part of the commission’s meticulous efforts to gather evidence surrounding the 2018 Koregaon Bhima violence.

Established in February 2018, the two-member inquiry commission, headed by former high court chief justice JN Patel and comprising former chief secretary Sumit Mullick, is currently conducting cross-examinations in Pune and Mumbai. The upcoming proceedings in Pune, scheduled from February 8 to February 12, mark the final hearings by the commission to collect crucial evidence.

Prakash Ambedkar, a prominent political figure associated with the Elgar Parishad held on December 31, 2017, is scheduled for cross-examination on February 8 and 9. Harshali Potdar, another key figure from the Elgar Parishad, will appear before the commission on February 9 and 10. Jyoti Kadam, who held the position of sub-divisional officer of Haveli during the relevant period, is slated for cross-examination on February 12.

While potential adjustments to the schedule are acknowledged, the inquiry commission has firmly stated that no adjournments will be granted, ensuring an uninterrupted and comprehensive examination of the testimonies.
