Expansion Milestone: Pune Railway Division Integrates Daund-Manmad Route

Enhanced Responsibility and Connectivity Mark New Era for Pune Rail Operations

The Pune railway division achieved a significant milestone as the Daund to Manmad railway section officially became part of its jurisdiction from Sunday midnight. This integration entails the addition of 29 railway stations and approximately 3,000 railway employees to the Pune division, expanding its operational scope and responsibilities.

With the inclusion of the Daund-Manmad section, the Pune railway division now oversees the daily traffic of approximately 98 trains, bringing the total number of daily trains under its purview to 292. The integration was formally sanctioned by the Railway Board on February 21, following completion of necessary procedures.

Previously under the Solapur division, the 234-kilometer Daund-Manmad route now falls within the ambit of the Pune division, signaling a significant territorial expansion for the latter. Additionally, the inclusion of the Beed-Parli section is on the horizon, further bolstering Pune’s stature as a pivotal railway hub.

Ramdas Bhise, senior divisional operations manager of the Pune Railway Division, expressed optimism about the implications of this integration. He highlighted the potential for increased train operations, enhanced connectivity, and elevated revenue streams for the division, citing the strategic importance of the newly added stations and cargo facilities along the Daund-Manmad route.

The expansion not only signifies a geographical enlargement of the Pune division, stretching its perimeter from 531 kilometers to 830 kilometers, but also underscores its pivotal role in facilitating rail transport across the region. Conversely, the Solapur division’s area has contracted from 981 kilometers to 757 kilometers in the wake of this realignment.
