Enhancing Security Measures: Pune Railway Station Set to Install 120 New CCTV Cameras

Pune railway station is gearing up for a significant boost in its security infrastructure with plans to install up to 120 new Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras by July 2024. The move is aimed at enhancing the overall safety and monitoring capabilities of the station.

A senior railway official confirmed that the proposal has been submitted to the Railway Board, and approval is expected soon. Once the necessary approvals are received, tenders will be released, and the installation process is anticipated to be completed within six to seven months.

The decision to install additional cameras comes as the operational lifespan of the existing 61 cameras, installed at Pune station since 2013, has reached its conclusion. These older cameras are no longer capable of producing clear images and videos, necessitating their replacement.

The upcoming installation of 120 new cameras is expected to address the outdated equipment issue and significantly improve the surveillance capabilities of Pune railway station. The move aligns with the ongoing efforts to modernize railway infrastructure and ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

According to a senior Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer stationed at Pune, the replacement of the old cameras will contribute to better monitoring and security enforcement at the station.
