Wagholi, a bustling locality on the Pune-Nagar Road, is set to experience a temporary rerouting of traffic on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 6 am to 12 pm. This decision, sanctioned by District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, is a proactive measure aimed at mitigating congestion, specifically in anticipation of the Sakal Maratha Samaj meeting at Mahalakshmi Lawn Pune Nagar Road near Kharadi bypass chowk.
To ensure a smooth and efficient diversion, an alternative route has been designated for heavy vehicles traveling from Ahmednagar to Pune city. The directive, effective during the specified time frame, is intended to streamline the flow of traffic, minimizing disruptions for commuters.
It’s noteworthy that vehicles providing essential services, such as Police, Ambulance, Fire Fighting Vehicles, Petrol-Diesel Tankers, PMPML Buses, and School Buses, are exempt from this diversion. This exemption underscores the conscientious effort to balance the need for rally-related traffic adjustments while maintaining critical services.
According to DCP (Traffic) Vijay Magar of Pune City Police, the diversion plan for Trucks, Trailers, Containers, and Heavy Vehicles Carrying Goods is as follows:
- Vehicles heading from Ahmednagar Road towards Hadapsar/Saswad/Satara should follow the diversion route through Kesnand via Theur Phata, Solapur Road to reach their destination.
- Motorists traveling from Solapur to Ahmednagar are advised to make a right turn at Theur Phata on Solapur Road and proceed to Ahmednagar Road via Kesnand.
- Vehicles traveling from Shikrapur to Pune city are directed to take the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway route via Chakan and Bhosari.
- Vehicles arriving from the Old Mumbai Pune Highway will be rerouted to Ahmednagar via Bhosari, Chakan, and Shikrapur.
- Vehicles on Old Pune Mumbai Road from Kharadi Bypass are instructed to divert through Hadapsar.
Additionally, dumpers carrying materials from the Wagholi area to Pune city will face a complete closure from 6:00 to 24:00 hrs on November 20, 2023.
Motorists are earnestly requested to cooperate with the traffic police by adhering to the provided alternative routes, contributing to the efficient management of traffic during this period.
