With the festive fervor building up for Diwali, Pune’s central markets are gearing up for a shopping rush, raising concerns about potential traffic congestion in the heart of the city. In a proactive move, authorities have introduced special parking facilities to ease traffic woes during the Diwali shopping extravaganza.
Parking Solutions for Four-Wheelers:
To cater to the increased influx of four-wheelers, several designated parking facilities have been established:
- Riverside (Bhide Bridge to Jayavantrao Tilak Bridge): A sprawling area along the riverside provides ample parking space for four-wheelers.
- Paid Parking at Hamalwada and Bhanuveelas: Additional options for parking convenience have been set up at Hamalwada and Bhanuveelas with paid facilities.
- AD School Ground (Sewasadan Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk): The AD School Ground offers a designated parking zone for four-wheelers, strategically located between Sewasadan Chowk and Appa Balwant Chowk.
Parking Provisions for Two-Wheelers:
Motorcycle and scooter riders also have designated parking areas to ensure a hassle-free experience:
- Riverside near Bhide Bridge: Two-wheeler parking facilities along the riverside near Bhide Bridge cater to the needs of commuters on smaller vehicles.
- Santaji Ghorpade Path (Kumbharves Chowk to Gadgil Putla Chowk): This stretch along Santaji Ghorpade Path provides organized parking for two-wheelers between Kumbharves Chowk and Gadgil Putla Chowk.
Traffic Police’s Call for Cooperation:
DCP (Traffic) Vijay Magar, leading the traffic police, has appealed to the public to cooperate with the designated parking arrangements. The aim is to prevent potential traffic snarls and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles in the central area.
Streamlining Festive Parking:
The initiative is a strategic move to streamline parking during the festive shopping period, acknowledging the surge in shoppers during Diwali. By providing well-defined parking spaces, authorities aim to enhance the overall shopping experience for both residents and visitors in the central part of Pune.
