The common assumption that larger airports with extensive flight options and superior connectivity offer more budget-friendly airline ticket prices has been debunked this festive season, particularly for travelers departing from Pune and Mumbai.
According to the latest information, ticket fares from these two airports are nearly equivalent to those for various destinations. On the eve of Diwali, the one-way ticket price per person traveling from Pune to Kolkata fluctuates between Rs 17,000 and Rs 19,000, while the fare for the Mumbai to Kolkata route ranges from Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000.
Despite Mumbai boasting 14 direct connections to Kolkata, Pune, which only offers three direct flights, is surprisingly on par in terms of ticket prices.
As the festival season approaches, ticket prices from both cities become remarkably similar, prompting travelers to explore alternative options, such as train journeys. This situation underscores the absence of regulations on airfare capping during the festive season.
