DGCA Halts Redbird Flight Training Academy Operations Amid Safety Concerns

In response to a series of accidents involving Redbird Flight Training Academy’s aircraft, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a nationwide suspension order for the academy’s operations. The most recent incident involved a Technum P2008J plane, marking the fifth accident linked to Redbird Academy’s aircraft in the past six months.

Citing technical faults and maintenance issues as the primary factors behind these accidents, DGCA Director for Flying Training, Captain Anil Gill, sent out an email confirming the suspension. The DGCA is now set to conduct a thorough examination of Redbird Academy’s maintenance and repair procedures, as well as evaluating the competence and authority of their designated examiners. Operations across all locations will remain halted until these investigations are concluded.

This stringent action was taken after two separate accidents involving Redbird Academy’s planes occurred in Baramati within just four days. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported, though three individuals sustained injuries.

The series of accidents has prompted concerns among local businesses and residents near the airport. The DGCA has announced that any further instructions to Redbird Academy will only be issued following a comprehensive investigation.

Notably, despite the string of incidents, no official statement or information regarding the accidents has been released by Redbird Academy.
