The city of Pune witnessed a spectacular conclusion to the Anant Chaturdashi procession of the revered Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati, a beloved cultural icon of the region. Commencing at 4 PM, the procession unfolded in a magnificent display of devotion and celebration. This grand event, organized by the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganapati Trust in its 131st year, began its journey from Belbagh Chowk, meandering through Lakshmi Road, and reached its culmination at Panchaleshwar Mandir Ghat at 8:50 PM.
A Chariot of Splendor: At the heart of the closing procession was the Shree Ganadhish Rath, an intricately designed chariot that artfully encapsulated the essence of the Shree Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Bedecked with captivating electric lights, the chariot added an extra layer of magnificence to the proceedings, captivating the eyes of onlookers.
Promoting Public Health: Following the longstanding tradition of promoting public health awareness, an ‘Arogya Rath’ participated zealously in the procession. This chariot was dedicated to various social themes with a primary focus on enlightening the public about pressing health issues. The procession further resonated with the vibrant tunes of Prabhat Brass Band, Darbar Brass Band, Swaroop Vardhini’s Dhol-Lazim Team, and Sanai-Chowghada.
Inclusivity and Devotion: A notable feature of this procession was the significant participation of female devotees who walked shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. As the procession reached Tilak Chowk at approximately 8:20 PM, it was evident that devotion transcended gender boundaries. The highlight of the evening was the immersion ceremony at Panchaleshwar Mandir Ghat, which took place at 8:50 PM, marking the symbolic return of the beloved deity.
