Connected Consumers: Pune’s 39 Lakh Enrolled for SMS Services with MSEDCL

Electricity Connections

In a remarkable display of connectivity and engagement, more than 39 lakh electricity consumers in Pune district have embraced the future by registering their mobile numbers with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). This significant milestone signifies an impressive 92.4 percent of consumers from various segments, including households, businesses, industries, and agriculture, who have proactively linked their customer numbers with mobile contact information. The outcome? Enhanced communication and improved services facilitated by informative SMS notifications.

Nishikant Raut, the Public Relations Officer at MSEDCL Pune, emphasized the value of this mobile registration, stating, “Consumers who register their mobile numbers with Mahavitaran receive essential updates via SMS, including electricity supply status, billing information, and various announcements. For those yet to enlist their mobile numbers, we encourage prompt registration to benefit from this service.”

Further insight from Nishikant Raut revealed that SMS notifications cover a broad spectrum of information. This encompasses scheduled maintenance alerts, estimated timeframes for restoring power in case of interruptions, monthly electricity consumption data, reminders to provide self-meter readings, notifications regarding disconnection of electricity supply, billing specifics, payment deadlines, and much more.

Despite the commendable majority of registrations, there are still 2,76,439 customers in Pune district who have not enrolled their mobile numbers with Mahavitaran. Consequently, they are missing out on the informative advantages offered through SMS notifications. The utility encourages tenant customers to take the initiative and register their personal mobile numbers.

Customers who have not yet aligned their mobile numbers with their customer IDs can swiftly complete this registration process. They need to send an SMS with “MREG” (space) followed by their twelve-digit customer number to 9930399303. This straightforward approach ensures seamless registration.

In addition to this SMS registration method, customers can also avail this service through the 24×7 call center (dial 1912, 18002123435, or 18002333435 toll-free numbers), the official website www.mahadiscom.in, or the Mahavitaran mobile app. The accessibility and flexibility of these options underpin MSEDCL’s commitment to ensuring robust communication and services for its consumers.
