City Corporation’s Children’s Traffic Park in Aundh Opens to Educate Young Minds on Road Safety

In a significant step towards promoting road safety education among young minds, the Children’s Traffic Park in Aundh, established by the Municipal Corporation’s Roads Department, has finally opened its gates. The park is designed to educate school-age children on various traffic rules, regulations, and signs in an interactive and engaging manner.

Purposeful Design and Learning Approach: Located in the Bremenchok area of Aundh, the Traffic Park aims to address questions related to traffic regulations, the usage of signs, and their meanings. The park features well-planned arrangements to facilitate easy understanding of traffic rules by children. The initial phase includes the construction of two-wheeler lanes, bicycle paths, parking lots, plazas, independent traffic lights, and crosswalks. The subsequent phase will incorporate road safety information signs, bilingual information boards in Marathi and English, and additional informative elements. A 3-minute documentary on transportation will also be available to enhance the learning experience.

Project Timeline and Resumption: Initiated in September 2022, the project initially garnered positive responses. However, due to a pause in school visits, the park faced closure. Recently, the park has been reopened, and over the past two days, students from private and municipal schools have been actively participating in traffic lessons. The Municipal Corporation has arranged for two buses dedicated to transporting city school students, with scheduled visits for each school.

Interactive Elements and Replica Infrastructure: The Children’s Traffic Park boasts a replica road that is 4 meters wide and 160 meters long. It features a dual carriageway, a parking system, a three-four road intersection, a traffic light system, and a safe pedestrian crossing with a separate traffic light system. Additionally, the park provides information on various traffic signboards, all presented in Marathi and English. The boards showcase exact replicas of car number plates, traffic signboards, telephone poles, and traffic lights, adding a practical touch to the learning experience.

Ensuring a Comprehensive Learning Environment: With a focus on creating a comprehensive learning environment, the Children’s Traffic Park is poised to become a valuable resource in imparting crucial road safety knowledge to the younger generation. By combining theoretical information with interactive elements, the park strives to make the learning process engaging and memorable.
