Chennai Cyclone Disrupts Pune Flights: 12 Cancellations Amid Severe Weather Conditions

Pune Airport has witnessed the cancellation of 12 flights on December 4th (Monday) due to adverse weather conditions in Chennai. The cancellations are attributed to the impact of Cyclone Michaung, which is set to make landfall along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu on December 5th, having intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, as reported by the India Meteorological Department.

Cyclone Michaung has already begun to manifest its effects, leading to substantial rainfall in Chennai on Monday. The torrential rain has resulted in severe waterlogging across various areas, including low-lying regions, hospitals, and residential areas. Civic agency personnel are actively engaged in efforts to alleviate flooding and clear accumulated water from affected areas.

The disruptive weather conditions have taken a toll on both train and flight services, causing widespread transportation issues. In response to the challenges posed by the weather, the Chennai bench of the Madras High Court and all district courts in the city have been closed temporarily.

Numerous reports of waterlogging have surfaced from different parts of the city, such as Maduravoyal, Porur, Saligaramam, and Valasaravakkam. Adding to the complications, the strong winds accompanying the cyclone have uprooted trees in various locations.
