Chaos on Salunkhe Vihar Road: Kondhwa Residents Demand Traffic Relief

Residents of Kondhwa in Pune faced severe traffic congestion on the Salunkhe Vihar road during the night of April 18 (Thursday), highlighting ongoing challenges with traffic management in the area. Despite the significant noise pollution caused by vehicle horns, the absence of traffic police officials exacerbated the situation, leaving citizens frustrated with what they perceive as poor traffic planning.

A viral video clip circulating on social media provides a glimpse of the traffic gridlock on Salunkhe Vihar road. The footage depicts the chaotic scene, with vehicles struggling to navigate through the congestion.

Commentary accompanying the video reflects widespread dissatisfaction among citizens, who vent their frustrations towards both local authorities and law enforcement. One commuter recounted being stranded at the location for nearly two hours due to the traffic snarl.

In response to the situation, Facebook user Udday D’Souza highlighted specific challenges contributing to the traffic woes. He pointed out the lack of traffic control or surveillance at critical junctions along with the prevalence of reckless driving, particularly by two-wheeler riders ignoring safety regulations. Illegally parked vehicles further compound the congestion, exacerbating an issue that has worsened since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. D’Souza emphasized the need for better urban planning and increased awareness to address the growing density of vehicles on the road.

Residents have identified several key areas in Wanawadi, including Salunke Vihar Road, Girme Heights, Lonkar Udyan, ABC Farm Chowk, Step Inn Restaurant, and Constituent Chowk, as perennial traffic hotspots, particularly during the evening rush hour. Despite repeated complaints and grievances from drivers, there appears to be little progress in resolving the issue, leaving residents frustrated with the lack of attention to their plight.

As traffic congestion continues to plague Kondhwa residents, calls for effective traffic management and infrastructure improvements grow louder, urging local authorities to take proactive measures to alleviate the daily commuting ordeal faced by citizens.
