Celebrating Excellence: Vasantotsav Awards Unveils Honorees for 10th Edition

Pune, India – January 16, 2023: In a grand celebration of musical talent, the Vasantrao Deshpande Pratishthan has revealed the recipients of the prestigious Vasantotsav Awards for its 10th edition. The awards, presented annually during the ‘Vasantotsav’ music festival, honor a senior musician and guru, a music researcher, and a talented young musician. This year, the esteemed awardees include Vidushi Meera Panshikar, Sanjay Sant, and Yashwant Thitte.

Vidushi Meera Panshikar, a senior vocalist and guru hailing from the Jaipur Gharana, is set to receive the award for her remarkable contributions to the world of music. Sanjay Sant, a dedicated gramophone record collector, is recognized for his valuable contributions as a music researcher. Yashwant Thitte, a young and talented Harmonium player, is acknowledged for his promising musical prowess.

The awards ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, January 21, will mark the concluding day of the three-day music fest, adding an extra layer of significance to the celebration of talent and dedication.

The Vasantotsav Awards carry a substantial reward for the recipients. Senior musicians and gurus, as well as music researchers, will receive a cash prize of Rs 51,000 along with a memento. The talented young musician, Yashwant Thitte, will be honored with Rs 21,000 and a memento, recognizing his potential and contribution to the musical landscape.
