Caution Against Backdrop of Ghatkopar Hoardings Mishap; Pune Municipal Commissioner Orders to Remove Unauthorised Hoardings in Pune (Video)

Unauthorised Hoardings in Pune

Pune: Since the last few days, unseasonal rains along with gales have been present in the state. Due to the strong wind, hoardings in the Ghatkopar area collapsed a few days ago, killing 17 people and injuring 70 to 80 others. Against this backdrop, the Pune Municipal Administration has intensified its measures against illegal hoardings in the city.

The Pune Municipal Corporation has warned those putting up unauthorised hoardings in the city. In this regard, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has given orders to remove unauthorised hoardings from the city within the next 7 days.

Bhosale has also given strict warnings to authorities who will show hesitancy against taking action on unauthorised hoardings. The Municipal Commissioner himself has reviewed these hoardings by traversing around the streets of Pune.

According to the information, there are nearly 2,598 hoardings in Pune as of now. Many of these hoardings are illegal, and hence immediate action is required against them to prevent tragedies like the Ghatkopar hoarding mishap. But while some hoardings are being taken down, the safety of the workers has also come to the fore.

Unauthorised hoardings in Pune’s Khanduji Baba Chowk have started to be removed. The hoardings in many places in the city will be removed in the next few days. The District Collector has asked for a report regarding the advertisement hoardings in Pune. A report on the hoardings put up in Pimpri Chinchwad and rural areas has also been sought. The report mentions informing the relevant hoarding board holder to carry out a fresh architectural audit of all the hoardings that have been given permission.
