Case Registered Against Individuals for Abusing PM Modi and RSS Chief in Pune Rally

Pune, 11th August 2023: The Pune City Police have taken action against two individuals and around 100 to 150 others for reportedly using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally in the city. A case has been officially registered at the Faraskhana Police Station, naming Sachin Bansode, the president of Bharat Mukti Morcha, and Rohit Malappa as primary suspects in the incident.

The complaint, filed by Amit Kank, the president of BJP’s Yuva Morcha, alleges that the accused individuals utilized a loudspeaker to verbally abuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public rally held in the city on August 7. Furthermore, the complaint states that the accused also directed offensive language towards RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat using the same loudspeaker during the same event.

The rally, organized to express condemnation of the Manipur incident and protest against the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, allegedly turned into a platform for the use of derogatory language against prominent figures.

The Pune City Police have taken firm action in this matter, invoking sections 143, 149, 504, and 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with sections 37(1) (3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.

While public rallies and gatherings are integral to democratic discourse, maintaining the decorum and respecting the individuals holding public office are crucial aspects of a responsible and mature expression of opinion. The police’s action reflects the importance of upholding civil discourse and preventing the use of offensive language that undermines the essence of constructive dialogue.
