Autumn Chill: Pune’s Diwali to Bring Refreshingly Cooler Temperatures

Brace yourselves, Punekars, as Diwali this year is expected to be cooler than the norm, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a dip in the minimum temperature. The city is also set to welcome light rains over the next 48 hours, adding a touch of unexpected freshness to the festive season.

The IMD has attributed this change in weather to the formation of a low-pressure system in the East-central Arabian Sea and an active cyclonic circulation in the Comorin area. These weather dynamics are not only set to bring light rainfall to Pune but also to other regions of Maharashtra over the next two days.

In the past 48 hours, Pune recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively. However, Punekars can expect a 2-degree drop in both these figures until November 10. This deviation from the recent heatwave comes after an unusually hot October, marked by clear skies and reduced moisture due to the premature withdrawal of the monsoon.

As the city readies itself for a colder Diwali, the forecast includes haze for the next 72 hours, providing a unique atmospheric backdrop to the festivities. The skies, however, are anticipated to clear up post-November 10, offering a pleasant and crisp atmosphere for Diwali celebrations.
