PUNE: A shocking incident of a 20-year-old student being attacked with a sickle in Sadashiv Peth has come to light. The accused assaulted the girl due to one-sided love. The girl has been seriously injured and she has been admitted to a hospital. The accused, who was running away, has been caught. Darshana Pawar, who had secured the third rank in the MPSC exam, was killed by her friend. While this incident is still fresh in the minds of people, another girl was attacked with a sickle. The law and order situation in Pune has come to the fore.
The Leader of the Opposition, Ajit Pawar, has strongly condemned the incident. Taunting the home minister, he said that Fadnavis may be busy in politicking, he may not have time to pay attention to law and order. Pawar tweeted and reacted to this incident.
Ajit Pawar said in the Tweet, “Incidents of crime have alarmingly increased in Pune city. It seems that the police don’t have any control over criminals. Female students are being assaulted with sickle during the day. The home minister may not be getting time to pay attention to law and order because he may be busy in politicking. I have never seen so much violence in Pune which has always been known as a city of culture. I strongly condemn this incident.”
The incident
Twenty-two-year-old accused Shantanu Laxman Jadhav on Tuesday attacked a girl in Sadashiv Peth near Perugate chowki. The girl stays in Sutardhara area in Kothrud. The accused tried to run away after attacking the girl but locals chased him and nabbed him. The accused was handed over to the police. The accused Shantanu Laxman Jadhav is a resident of Mulshi Dongargaon.
The accused had a one-sided love affair with the girl. He used to chase her and harass her. He caught up with the girl near a temple in Sadashiv Peth and tried to talk with her. The girl refused to talk with him and he attacked her with a sickle. The accused disappeared. Citizens chased him and nabbed him and assaulted him at Appa Balwant Chowk.
How the girl was saved
When the accused Shantanu Jadhav assaulted the girl with a sickle, a youth was passing by. He saw the incident and put up a resistance. The accused Jadhav got scared and ran away but residents chased him and nabbed him.
