APCCI Joins Hands for a Grand Independence Day Cleanliness Campaign Across Pune

Pune, August 16, 2023 – The Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI) took an active and spirited role in a comprehensive cleanliness campaign that spanned over 100 diverse locations across Pune, coinciding with the celebration of Independence Day. Executed on August 13th and 14th, 2023, this campaign was an integral part of the extensive efforts initiated by Swachh Pune Swachh Bharat’s “Don Taas, Ek Swach Pune Prayas,” an initiative pioneered by Wing Commander Puneet Sharma.

This annual endeavor provided a common platform for NGOs, communities, and volunteer groups to unite and contribute collaboratively to various activities aimed at enhancing the city’s aesthetics, raising awareness about cleanliness, conducting plantation drives, waste collection, and sanitation activities in public spaces.

The campaign aimed to reinforce the idea that every individual has a role to play in improving the livability of their city by actively participating in keeping it clean and free from pollution. This year, the campaign was themed around ‘SWAG,’ representing the values it embodies: ‘S’ for Swachhta, symbolizing organized cleanliness drives; ‘W’ for Waste and E-Waste Collection; ‘A’ for awareness campaigns through vibrant wall paintings; and ‘G’ for the GoGreen movement, encompassing various plantation initiatives.

APCCI’s enthusiastic involvement was prominently featured in the weekend Cleanliness Drives across a wide range of locations. The leadership for these initiatives was led by a dedicated team, including Malhar Karwande, Chief Operating Officer of APCCI; Satya Natarajan, Lead Volunteer at APCCI; Nilesh Ramekar, Manager at APCCI; all operating under the wise guidance of Krishnan Komandur, Chief Executive Officer of APCCI.

Through this collective effort, APCCI, along with other contributing organizations and volunteers, showcased the importance of community involvement in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and promoting sustainable practices. Such initiatives not only elevate the city’s visual appeal but also foster a sense of ownership and pride among citizens, paving the way for a cleaner and greener Pune.
