AFMC Pune Gears Up for 72nd Armed Forces Medical Conference, Promoting Excellence in Military Healthcare

Pune: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune is set to host the 72nd Armed Forces Medical Conference from February 1 to 3, 2024. This unique gathering will bring together medical, dental, and nursing professionals from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, featuring subject experts from across the country.

The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) is unwavering in its commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the defenders of the nation, extending from land to sea and skies. The AFMS is dedicated to delivering preventive, promotive, diagnostic, curative, and rehabilitative services, even in the most remote locations.

Lt Gen Daljit Singh, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) & Senior Colonel Commandant, Army Medical Corps, will inaugurate the conference on February 2, 2024, at AFMC, Pune. Renowned doctors from various medical fields, both nationally and internationally, along with armed forces professionals, will share their experiences with the delegates.

The conference serves as a platform to recognize and award outstanding performances by AFMS members in academics, research, medical writing, and reviewing. It also provides an opportunity for the AFMS think tank to deliberate on contemporary healthcare concerns and challenges, focusing on the future through sessions like ‘Perspective Challenges.’

During the conference, the Armed Forces Medical Academic Committee (AFMAC) meeting will be conducted to align policies, curriculum, and academic training issues across AFMS. Chaired by DGAFMS, the meeting will be attended by senior dignitaries, including Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar and Dr Vinayak Kale.

Parallel sessions of specialist conferences on February 1, 2024, will allow experts to discuss domain-specific academic training and research issues, enriching the overall conference proceedings.

Healthcare research has always been an integral part of the strong and robust AFMS, and the Armed Forces Medical Conference plays a crucial role in preparing the AFMS to address any healthcare needs of the armed forces and the nation.

The conference is being organized under the expert guidance of Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, Director & Commandant, AFMC, and Maj Gen D Vivekanand, Dean & Deputy Commandant, AFMC.
