A Historic Day at NDA: President Droupadi Murmu Reviews 145th Passing Out Parade, Hails Female Cadets

In a momentous celebration, the 145th Passing Out Parade at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, marked a significant chapter in its history as the parade was reviewed by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu. This grand ceremonial event, held at the Khetarpal Parade Ground on November 30, 2023, highlighted the conclusion of three years of rigorous military training for the cadets.

A total of 1225 cadets participated in the parade, with 348 cadets from the passing out course, including 186 Army cadets, 36 Naval cadets, and 105 Air Force cadets. Notably, this parade saw the historic participation of a contingent of 15 female cadets, a first in the academy’s storied history.

The President’s Gold Medal was awarded to BCC Pratham Singh for securing the first position in the overall order of merit, while ACA Jatin Kumar and BCA Harsh Wardhan Shailesh Bhonsle received the President’s Silver and Bronze Medals, respectively. The ‘Juliet’ Squadron clinched the prestigious ‘Chiefs of Staff Banner,’ earning the title of the Champion Squadron.

President Murmu congratulated the passing out course cadets, medal winners, and the Champion Squadron for their exceptional dedication and performances. She expressed her happiness at witnessing the first batch of female cadets participating in the passing out parade, emphasizing the nation’s readiness and competence in defense.

As part of the 75 Glorious Years Celebrations, President Murmu released a Commemorative Coin, Postal Stamp, and First Day Cover of NDA. The coin, with a denomination of Rs 75, and the stamp, with a denomination of Rs five, were issued by the Government of India Mint, Hyderabad, and the Department of Posts, respectively.

The event concluded with President Murmu paying homage to the brave hearts at The Hut of Remembrance, a memorial constructed by NDA cadets from the 10th to 17th Course. Shri Ramesh Bais, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, and Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Commandant, NDA, also graced the occasion.

On January 16, 2024, NDA will complete 75 glorious years of service to the nation, reiterating its commitment to maintaining the highest traditions and standards of training.
