NDA Pune Celebrates Academic Brilliance: 145th Course Convocation Ceremony

In a momentous event, the Convocation Ceremony of the 145th NDA (National Defence Academy) course took place at the iconic Habibullah Hall of NDA on November 29, 2023. The ceremony, graced by Prof (Dr) Suresh W Gosavi, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, celebrated the academic achievements and commitment to service of 204 cadets.

Cadets were conferred degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, with specializations including 73 in the Science stream, 86 in the Computer Science stream, and 45 in the Arts stream. Additionally, 21 cadets from friendly foreign countries received degrees during the ceremony. The B Tech stream, comprising 133 Navy and Air Force cadets, also received ‘three years course completion’ certificates.

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, Commandant of NDA, welcomed the Chief Guest, Prof (Dr) Suresh W Gosavi. The convocation address emphasized the rigorous training and world-class education provided by NDA, acknowledging the dedication of both the cadets and their supportive parents.

The academic report for the Autumn Term – 2023 was presented during the ceremony. The event highlighted the exceptional achievements of the cadets, with several receiving prestigious awards.

Cadet Ram Prasad Gurjar of Quebec Squadron secured the first position in the Science Stream with an FGPA of 7.72, earning the Commandant’s Silver Medal and the COAS Rolling Trophy presented by General K Sundarji, PVSM (Retd).

Cadet Pratham Singh of Golf Squadron stood first in the Computer Science Stream with an FGPA of 8.49, receiving the Commandant’s Silver Medal and the Admiral’s Rolling Trophy presented by Admiral Sureesh Mehta, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chief of Naval Staff.

Cadet Vikram Singh of Kilo Squadron secured the top position in the Social Science Stream with an FGPA of 7.22, earning the Commandant’s Silver Medal and the CAS Trophy presented by Air Chief Marshal NC Suri, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd).

Cadet Kunal Panghal of Oscar Squadron stood first in the B.Tech stream, completing the six-semester training at NDA with a CGPA of 7.96. He was presented with the Commandant’s Silver Medal and the CISC Trophy by HQ IDS.

The ceremony concluded with the acknowledgment of the dedication and hard work put in by the cadets, marking the beginning of their promising careers in the Indian Armed Forces.
