96 Aadhaar Centers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Temporarily Suspended for Non-Compliance

Pune, 14th July 2023: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken the decision to suspend the Aadhaar licenses of 96 center operators in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and other rural areas due to their failure to comply with UIDAI’s instructions. These operators were provided with online training and were required to pass an examination. Out of the total operators, 82 successfully cleared the examination.

Despite passing the examination, these 82 operators have not received permission from UIDAI to resume Aadhaar-related services. As a result, the closure of 96 Aadhaar centers in the city and district continues.

Aadhaar numbers have become an essential requirement for accessing various central and state government schemes, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, banking services, employment opportunities, and business transactions. When updating or registering for a new Aadhaar, operators are responsible for collecting and uploading the necessary documents into the UIDAI computer system. However, the 96 Aadhaar centers in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and rural areas have repeatedly failed to comply with UIDAI’s instructions, leading to the temporary suspension of their licenses.

To rectify the situation, the district administration provided training to the concerned machine operators and conducted an online test, resulting in 82 operators passing the examination. Despite efforts to reinstate these operators by corresponding with UIDAI, they have not been granted permission to resume operations, resulting in the continued closure of the affected centers.

In addition, 86 center operators from the district have successfully completed UIDAI’s training course, and a proposal for their reinstatement was submitted to UIDAI in June. However, the district administration is currently awaiting an official order from UIDAI. In the meantime, the closure of 96 Aadhaar centers in both urban and rural areas persists. The district administration is actively engaging with UIDAI through additional letters to expedite the reopening of these centers.

Jyoti Kadam, Resident Deputy Collector, emphasized the administration’s commitment to promptly resume operations at the closed centers. Efforts are being made to facilitate effective communication with UIDAI in order to resolve the issue and reinstate the operators. The administration recognizes the importance of Aadhaar services and is dedicated to ensuring the seamless provision of these services to the public.

It is essential for the operators and center authorities to comply with UIDAI’s instructions to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the Aadhaar system. The suspension of licenses serves as a reminder that strict adherence to UIDAI’s guidelines is crucial in providing secure and reliable services to the citizens. The district administration will continue its dialogue with UIDAI to address the situation and work towards the swift reopening of the Aadhaar centers, minimizing any inconvenience caused to the public.
