Wheels of Change: Indrayani River Cyclothon 2023 Sets a Green Precedent

Pimpri-Chinchwad – In a historic achievement, Pimpri-Chinchwad marked its presence in the Guinness Book of World Records with the largest static cyclist formation, setting the stage for a grand celebration through the Indrayani River Cyclothon 2023. This ambitious initiative, organized at Gavjatra Maidan, Bhosari, saw an impressive turnout of over 30,000 cyclists, underscoring the community’s commitment to environmental conservation.

The Indrayani River Cyclothon, which earned a place in the India Book of Records last year, is a collaborative effort spearheaded by Cycle Mitra, Avirat Shramdaan, Mahesh Dada Sports Foundation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, and various other environmentally conscious organizations. The event not only celebrated the joy of cycling but also advocated for it as a sustainable mode of transportation, highlighting the pressing need for Indrayani River preservation.

Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, in a congratulatory note, expressed gratitude to all contributors, emphasizing their pivotal role in the success of these events. “The success of this cycle rally serves as a testament to the power of collective action in addressing environmental concerns. By joining forces, we can make a significant impact on the health of our planet and secure a sustainable future for generations to come,” he added in a post on social media.

The cyclothon not only set a world record but also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of rivers and sustainable practices. As participants pedaled through the city streets, the message echoed loud and clear – the Indrayani River deserves attention, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure its preservation.
