Transparency in Development: Ajit Pawar Vows to Review BJP’s PCMC Initiatives

Recent developments in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area have sparked attention and discussion, covering a diverse range of topics. These include the establishment of a water abstraction station near the Bhama Askhed dam, mechanized road cleaning, objections related to Telco Road’s construction, and concerns over a supposedly overpriced tender linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Dudulgaon.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, has taken a critical stance against the BJP regarding these projects. He has pledged a thorough and comprehensive audit of these initiatives. Additionally, Pawar has advised caution and careful consideration in the tender process for the proposed 750-bed hospital in Moshi.

Since assuming the position of Deputy Chief Minister within the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government, Ajit Pawar conducted a detailed visit to Pimpri-Chinchwad. During his stay, he engaged in an intensive three-hour review meeting with municipal officials to delve into ongoing development projects within the city. Attendees at this significant meeting included Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh and Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale.

Pawar didn’t shy away from highlighting allegations of corruption surrounding several municipal projects. He committed to a thorough investigation into these allegations and promised appropriate actions if any wrongdoing is uncovered. He acknowledged the administration’s receipt of complaints and inquiries concerning specific projects, with some matters even escalating to legal proceedings.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that a comprehensive inquiry will be conducted to validate the legitimacy of these allegations. Notably, he stressed the need for balanced development across all constituencies, advising against undue focus solely on Bhosari. He reiterated his dedication to the city’s advancement, pledging expedited growth for Pimpri-Chinchwad during his tenure.

On the contentious Pavana closed water channel project, Pawar clarified his commitment to its continuation. Despite a previous moratorium during the previous Chief Minister’s term, Pawar expressed his intention to appeal to the Chief Minister to lift the suspension. Following that, the Municipal Commissioner would take appropriate steps.

Notably, Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barane and BJP MLAs Mahesh Landge, Ashwini Jagtap, and Uma Khapare opted not to participate in the review meeting. In response, Pawar clarified that he hadn’t extended invitations to these individuals for the event.

Turning to the Avishkar Nagri (Science City) project, which necessitates 35 acres of land, Pawar pointed out that both central and state governments were contributing funds for its realization. However, due to spatial constraints within the city, an alternative location in Mundhwa has been identified. The Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged that the central government’s participation would depend on the availability of adequate space.

In summary, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s visit and subsequent discussions have shed light on ongoing development projects in the PCMC area. His commitment to transparency, fairness, and balanced growth remains at the forefront as these initiatives move forward.
