PIMPRI: On Sunday night at 11.30 pm, some people were stealing gas from a gas tanker through a nozzle and filling up commercial gas tanks on the open premises of JSPM College. At that time, there was a leakage of gas and an explosion took place which resulted in a huge blaze. The Pimpri Chinchwad police are now in an action mode and two officers and four employees have been suspended. They include API Parvez Shikalgar and API Balaji Thakur.
While stealing gas from the tanker, nine tanks exploded and three school buses were destroyed. Pimpri Chinchwad was shaken up after this incident. The loud explosion was heard several kilometres away and the huge smoke could be seen from a long distance.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident. Since the explosion took place near the Blossom School of JSPM Institute owned by Health Minister Tanaji Sawant, he visited the spot on Monday. He pulled up officials of Pimpri Chinchwad police and accused them of being responsible for black marketing and the huge blaze. He said that the black marketing was going on with the support of the Pimpri Chinchwad police. He instructed the officials that the guilty policemen should be suspended. In a few hours, senior officials suspended two officers and four policemen.
