Reclaiming Public Spaces: PCMC’s Action in Chikhali

In a determined effort to combat unauthorized encroachments within its jurisdiction, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Regional Office C Encroachment Team initiated a series of eviction actions across various locations in Chikhali. The operation aimed to reclaim public spaces from illegal encroachments and maintain the integrity of the city’s infrastructure.

The targeted areas included Ward No. 02 and 08, encompassing the region of Indrayani Riverbed and Stream in Moi Phata Group No. – 7, 8, 9, and 10, identified as areas with unauthorized encroachments. These encroachments covered an estimated area of 4,000 square feet of reinforced concrete construction (RCC).

The comprehensive operation involved several actions, including the dismantling of a boundary wall in the Indrayani Nagar area, the removal of a 500-square-foot Metal Shed near the Indrayani Nagar Mini Market, and a 2000-square-foot Metal Shed in Bhosari MIDC. Additionally, two steps in the Khandewasti area were among the targeted locations. The enforcement actions were carried out under the guidance of PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, and City Engineer Makarand Nikam.

The successful removal efforts during this operation cleared approximately 6500 square feet of RCC constructions, metal sheds, and encroachments in the areas of Ward No. 02 and 08. This collaborative effort, executed on October 20, 2023, involved the Maharashtra Security Force and the Maharashtra Police Team.

The Municipal Corporation has demonstrated its commitment to addressing encroachments occurring in different parts of the city. In this regard, citizens are urged to refrain from parking abandoned vehicles on roads, avoid setting up unauthorized stalls, letter sheds, and banners, and actively cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of public spaces.
