Pune’s Swift Arrest: Duo Nabbed for Bank Manager Blackmail

Pune Crime News

In a rapid and decisive operation, the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested two individuals, one of whom is a woman, accused of attempting to extort money from a bank manager. The pair claimed to have a recorded conversation and threatened to frame the manager in a fictitious case.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 27-year-old Ganesh Laxman Koli, residing in the Shivajinagar Railway Station Slum in Pune, and his female accomplice. This arrest follows a complaint made by a senior manager of a national bank located in the Bhosari area.

The bank manager found himself the target of extortion when the accused duo demanded a sum of two and a half lakhs, accompanied by threats to publicly share their recorded conversation on social media. The threatening messages included warnings of implicating the manager in a fabricated crime, which could lead to job loss and termination if the ransom was not paid. Initially, under pressure, the manager paid 25 thousand rupees.

As the accused persisted in their demands, seeking an additional two lakhs, the manager decided to take action and reported the incident to the police. In response, the police formulated a plan. They engaged with the accused to negotiate a ransom of one and a half lakhs and successfully apprehended them during the process.
